As part of the EUROPAN competition, DODA.A proposed the transformation of the A28 motorway viaduct, spanning the Risle Valley, into a hybrid infrastructure that reconciles
mobility, ecology, and housing.

Far from its initial use as a roadway, the viaduct is reimagined as a landscaped backbone accommodating multiple activities. On its deck, a wide planted promenade welcomes pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit alongside a calmed traffic lane. Photovoltaic canopies and urban wind turbines ensure energy autonomy, turning the viaduct into a sustainable corridor.

The monumental piers are transformed into hubs of housing and activity. They host apartments, workshops, and shared spaces, interconnected by hanging gardens and scenic overlooks. Each tower becomes an inhabited landmark, rooted in the valley and connected to redesigned riverbanks.

The project combines adaptive reuse with programmatic innovation: rather than being seen as a scar on the landscape, the structure is requalified as a catalyst for life and a support for biodiversity. Through this proposal, the agency asserts a forward-looking vision of architecture, where infrastructures and territories interact to invent new ways of living.
