Accomodations Honfleur
Honfleur, Normandie, France
In the heart of Honfleur’s protected historic district, two 17th-century Norman-style buildings stood
abandoned and severely deteriorated. Conserto has entrusted DODA with the rehabilitation of these structures as part of the French “Malraux” heritage restoration program, transforming them into
residential buildings.
The first building, measuring 317 m2, is fully renovated and expanded with a timber-frame extension at the back of the lot, resulting in 13 residential units that open either onto the street or into interior gardens.
The second building, 280 m2, was propped up by wooden braces and at risk of collapse. A meticulous restoration process allows its historic façade to be preserved while the interior is reorganized into 10 apartments surrounding a central courtyard.
Drawing on its expertise in traditional Norman architecture, DODA.A assembled a specialized team skilled in timber construction, half-timbered façades, and structural carpentry. Faithful to the original architecture, both restoration projects breathe new life into heritage that was on the verge of disappearing.
