Maison N
Chatou, Ile-de-France, France
In Chatou, a western suburb of Paris, DODA.A transformed a modest pavilion into a striking contemporary residence through a full renovation and the addition of an upper floor. The client sought to elevate the home’s value and character with an expressive architectural identity.
The new roofscape is both sculptural and functional: a mansard profile on the street side and a wide overhang at the rear, sheltering a garden-facing loggia. Zinc and slate crown a traditional timber structure, bringing rhythm and texture to the elevation.
At the heart of the home, a double-height central volume brings natural light into every level. The ground floor hosts an open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living area. A concrete staircase rises to a mezzanine bathed in daylight beneath a large skylight, organizing access to the bedrooms. The basement was excavated to increase ceiling height, allowing for the creation of guest quarters and a home cinema.
DODA.A managed every stage—from permits to execution—ensuring a bold yet harmonious transformation that redefines domestic space with elegance and clarity.
