Gourou is an immersive journey into the heart of Indian street food, an invitation to discover the richness and vitality of the streets of Mumbai or Delhi through a contemporary lens.

Born from the transformation of an existing restaurant, the project completely reimagines the space to offer an experience that is both transportive and welcoming, blending the exuberance of Indian canteens with the elegance of French architectural craftsmanship.

Composed of two interconnected rooms, the restaurant retains the distinctive layout of the original space, which requires guests to walk through the kitchen to move from one area to the other. DODA.A turned this constraint into a strength by transforming the passage into a central moment of the experience. Echoing India’s lively street stalls, this circulation creates a vibrant continuity between the spaces, where guests discover the preparation of the dishes, the aromas, and the gestures of the cooks.

The interior design reflects this inspiration through meticulous work on patinas, textures, and materials. The floor, made of full-body tinted terrazzo fragments, features custom-designed patterns that evoke the popular graphics and colorful sidewalk markings found throughout India. The walls, colors, and furniture play with bold contrasts, combining warm tones, patinated metals, and decorative elements sourced directly from India.
